Description

This is an antique, pre-Prohibition Beer Bottle embossed on the base "C & Co Lim"  (see etching of mark).  There is an oval shaped place for a paper label on the front and there appear to be markings on the bottom but are illegible. Bottle sites have linked the vintage mark to Cunningham & Co, between 1892 and 1907, as the company no longer used the abbreviated "lim" (for limited) after 1903.  Others narrow the date between 1887 and 1900 when the company was incorporated.  The brown bottle is molded from heavy glass with the side seam stopping below the neck.  My father, an avid bottle hunter, dug the bottle up in the ruins of an old home in Virginia more than 40 years ago.  The bottle is in good shape for a 120 year old, dug bottle.  The bottle is free of breaks or cracks, with the exception of a small chip on the lip.  There is sediment deposit from long term exposure but color remains strong with an iridescent sheen.  The old beer bottle measures about 9.75" tall and 2.5" wide.
Please Note: This is an empty bottle sold for collectible purposes.
